GOSI Governor His Excellency Mr. Soliman bin Saad Al-Humayyd praised the decision issued by the Cabinet on 29 March 2010, granting a cost-of-living allowance to the retirees of the Social Insurance Scheme.
On behalf of all beneficiaries, Mr. Al-Humayyd thanked the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud; His Royal Highness Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Deputy Premier, Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General; and His Royal Highness Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Second Deputy Premier and Minister of Interior, for their care giving to the retirees and their families.
Mr. Al-Humayyd said that emanating from its responsibility towards the retirees and their family members, particularly the pensioners and beneficiaries, GOSI Board of Directors chaired by His Excellency Minister of Labor Dr. Ghazi bin Abdulrahman Al-Qusaibi submitted a request to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to approve the payment of this allowance.
"All Saudi citizens who receive monthly pensions and benefits as well as their family members will benefit from this allowance for three year as of the first month following the date of the Cabinet decision issued in this regard," Mr. Al-Humayyd said. The cost-of-living allowance will be 5% during the first year; 10% during the second year; and 15% during the third year. The allowance will be calculated as a maximum on the basis of the first SR 25,000 of the pension and benefit, Mr. Al-Humayyd added.
GOSI Governor said that after the end of three years, granting this allowance will be subject to the decisions made in regards counterpart allowance paid to state pensioners issued by the Cabinet decision No. 11 dated 19/01/1429H.
It is noteworthy that the number of beneficiaries of the Social Insurance Scheme exceeded 250,000. They are paid more than 650 million per month.
